Amid growing controversy between India and China, there are reports that now Chinese hackers can cyber attack on India. Cyber intelligence firm Cyfirma has warned that these hackers may cyber attack on several government agencies, media houses, pharma companies, telecom operators and a large tire company in India.
Threat on India's media houses and telecom operators
Kumar Ritesh, chairman and CEO of Cyfirma, said, "Chinese hackers were the names of many Indian companies, media houses, telecom operators and a big tire company during the conversation. When we started sending the handle publishing these lists back to their source, we found that they belong to the popular hacking group Gothic Panda and Stone Panda. "
Cyfirma has informed CERT-In (Computer Emergency Response Team), India's nodal agency for cyber attack, and some companies whose names were on the list. According to Cyfirma, the list included MRF Tires, Airtel, BSNL, Sun Pharmaceutical, Cipla, Reliance Jio, Hindustan Times, Times of India and Republic TV.
Groups active in cyber attack in last 10 years
"Both these hacker groups have a history of launching cyber attacks against government agencies and competing companies in China," Ritesh said. Gothic pandas have been active in large-scale cyber attacks in the US and Hong Kong for more than the past 10 years.
Chinese have more than 3 lakh hackers
According to an estimate, more than 3 lakh people work in China's hacker community. Of these, 93 percent work for the Chinese Army - Chinese Rebelkin Army. They are fully funded by the Chinese government. These hackers are constantly hacking into countries of America, Japan, South Korea, India and South East Asia.
India is going to bring its new cyber security guidelines this year. For the first time in this government, Dr. Gulshan Rai was appointed as the Cyber Security Chief.
